My friends have interesting thoughts about marriage!

* Chris says Mendelsohn’s Wedding March is every girl’s ‘victory song’.

* Ellis says marriage is like law school, everyone who gets in complains that it’s hard. Yet every year hundreds of people struggle to gain admission.

* Ekua says marriage should be a contract renewable every 7 years.

* Nii wonders how two people who once loved each other could write such spiteful things in divorce petitions.

* Amma says (talking of marriage) the grass is not greener on the other side, so stick on this/your side and water it till its green too.

* All these comments were made in different scenarios, at different times and mostly unprovoked! J With whom do you agree?

Pet Cemeteries in Accra

My puppy died last night
It happened as soon as I got home
I wasn’t particularly sad
I did not cry
(BTW, I bawled when my dog of 10 yrs died in 2000)
I wasn’t really attached to it
So I proceeded to dig a hole
To bury his tiny lifeless body
In the backyard
My mum said to me, “We do not bury pets at home!”
Whoa? Superstition? Tradition?
I don’t know.
So I buried him on some vacant land
I wasn’t in the mood to argue
But I wanted to prove a point
So I asked her, “Where are the pet cemeteries in Accra?”
She couldn’t tell me.
Do you know? Have you heard of this “superstition” before?

Marathon

I want to try the Accra International Marathon this year.

The full run is about 25km

Maybe I could the half marathon

Don’t know if I should use it to raise money for some cause.

Or just run for fun

But I would certainly love for my friends to come and cheer me on.

Multitasking

My boss and I were in a little debate about who can multitask better. Of course, I went for the woman, he went for the man and proceeded to say, the pinnacle of multitasking is when a man is able to:
&     1. Drive
&     2. Carry on a conversation with the wife
&     3. Check out the hot girl on the street
&     4. Not get caught (by the wife)
&     5. Not crash the car

Needless to say, he beat me hands down.

Blogging Discipline

I have no reason for not blogging for so long

I have had no exams in recent past

I’m no longer studying (well at least not in school)

I still have a million and one blogging topics that used to make my readers smile

I was just not blogging

Then toward the end of last year, my very good friend told me I have no “blogging discipline”

I think he's right (though I did not readily admit it)

So I’m gonna try

Happy New Year!

(I hope you will read and comment)

Silver linings

Lights flickered

Power off

Back on

Off again

On

Off

Outside

Into the full moon

Silvery glow

Mellow beam

Shimmering light

Glistening rays

A world at peace

Basking

In the eve’s glimmer

A silver lining,

…indeed!

*Thanks ECG, for inspiring me to look for the “silver lining” in every dark cloud, er,… but don’t make it a habit! ;-)

5 random thoughts about Wanlov, the Kubolor…

I was at a bazaar on Saturday with a friend. I saw this ‘obroni-ish’ dreadlocked man standing there barefooted. I surreptitiously scanned the whole area to see if I could see a pair of sandals (flip flops or afro moses, anyone) lying around. Nothing. Then my friend remarked, “Oh, that’s Wanlov.” I found out 5 interesting things about him that have occupied all my “floating thoughts” all weekend long…

Would he walk to town everyday if he lived at Prampram, Kasoa or Oyibi and not Arirport (or is it Dzorwulu)?

Does he walk on the (mirage inducing) scalding sidewalks at midday barefooted too?

What if his loincloth hooks on a nail and snags? Would we see a (maybe toned) pale behind?

Does he not feel too much air passing around his… um…private regions when he walks around without briefs?

Are his T shirts made in Ghana too?

I wonder…

Dawn Music

I stirred to these today…

Beep beep beep. The alarm.

Whoo whoo whoo. The whirring fan.

Tick tock, tick tock. The clock.

Vroooom. A lone car.

Kokrooko (Cock-a-doodle-doo, if you will). A rooster.

Tweet tweet, tweet tweet. An early bird.

Swish swish swish. The neighbours broom.

Kokrooko. A(nother?) rooster.

Tweet tweet tweet. More early birds?

…beautiful dawn music!

Tailgater Terror

Why do you follow me so closely?

Do you want to smell my nether regions?

Or maybe even kiss it?

Why do you shine your big glaring lights so brightly?

Do you want me to blind you with my mirrors?

Or maybe even cause you a seizure?

Get the hell away from my bumper, you idiot!

Restless

Restless

Edgy, Impatient

Shifting, Twitching, Fidgeting

Who isn’t restless?

Agitation
